GoinGreen supports the rainforests with Carbonica

Planting trees

Trees are vital to biodiversity and preserving our environment. The destruction of the tropical forests releases more CO2 than all the world's cars, airplanes and ships put together. At GoinGreen we believe that to combat global change it is vital to stop deforestation. GoinGreen has partneredCarbonica

with carbon offset provider Carbonica to plant 16 new trees in the rainforests for every new G-Wiz sold.

This way every G-Wiz contributes to protecting the rainforests and adding a breath of fresh air to our environment.

What is carbon offsetting?

Carbon offsetting is about balancing carbon emissions so that they add up to zero. It should always come second to reducing emissions, which is far more important.

Even after reducing emissions, the remaining carbon footprint is damaging to the environment, because adding to the CO2 in the atmosphere contributes to global warming. Greenhouse gases retain excess heat and their contribution to global warming accrues year on year.

This is why it is a good idea to offset the remainder. In the manufacture of the G-Wiz we reduce emissions as much as we can and offset the remainder though our partner Carbonica, who carry out certified forestry programmes in the rainforests of Central America and the Amazon to capture the CO2 resulting from the emissions in the manufacture of the G-Wiz.

Carbon Neutral

Carbonica

Uniquely, the G-Wiz is entirely carbon neutral. We offset all greenhouse gas emissions generated in the manufacture, shipping and first two years' driving.

Carbonica have calculated carbon emissions during the manufacture and shipping, and estimated emissions generated at the power station from driving based on average mileage and an electricity usage from an ordinary supplier, which is 63 gms CO2/km (Ecolane).

If the G-Wiz is recharged using green electricity from renewables

then the emissions are exactly zero, and it is "carbon negative", because it will be offset for a greater amount than its true emissions. This is still more beneficial to the environment.
