START - London's first ever free ECO-CAR Spectacular
On Sunday 12 September 2010, The Mall became the unlikely venue for London's first ever free Eco-Car Spectacular and GoinGreen put in a show stealing appearance, racing two G-Wiz down the Mall, before arriving at the front of the line up for this fantastic photo with Stirling Moss and the curators of the event, Kevin McLoud and Roger Saul.
With all sorts of EVs, motorbikes and scooters, there was something for every petrol-head with a conscience. The Eco-Car Spectacular was part of The Prince of Wales's 'A Garden Party to Make A Difference', which aims to give people of all ages a fun day out while at the same time, via the exhibits, demonstrating the small steps that can, and are, being taken by all of us interested in building a more sustainable future. The event was curated by Roger Saul and Kevin McCloud.

Electric vehicle grants scheme: EV market on hold until 2011. It still makes sense to buy the G-Wiz!
26 Febuary: The UK Government recently announced an electric vehicle grant scheme which supports the purchase of qualifying electric vehicles with a grant of up to £5000 starting 1st of January 2011. Whilst GoinGreen generally welcomes additional support for the EV market Founding Director Nick Hewson warned "This new grant scheme is now a disincentive for anyone looking at buying the quadricycle type of electric vehicles such as the G-Wiz. Though our next vehicle, the REVA NXR, will be eligible for the grant scheme, I think what will end up in happening is the government grants will allow manufacturers to put the price point up for the qualifying EV's."
GoinGreen has demonstrated, with sales of the G-Wiz in London of more than a thousand in the last five years, that the low cost quadricycle EV is a viable option to reduce urban vehicle emissions, and combined with low speeds provides a more rounded urban solution. Even without any Central government grants it is possible to save up to £50 per day by driving a G-Wiz instead of a petrol car into parts of Central London.
